Gina C. Edwards, CPA, Partner

As a partner at Edwards, Hayslett & Co. since December of 2007, Gina has over 16 years accounting experience serving employers in the Kansas City and surrounding area. She has worked with a variety of businesses, ranging from golf, hospitality, insurance, banking and real estate. As a Class of 2000, magna cum laude graduate of Park University in Parkville, Missouri, Gina passed the CPA exam in 2002.

She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Parkville Chamber of Commerce in addition to being a Co-Chair of the Social Committee. She also serves as the President of the Kansas City Chapter of the Missouri Society of CPA’s and is a member of the Accounting Careers Committee. She is currently President of the Zona Rosa Chapter of Business Networking International and a member in good standing of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She holds active CPA licenses in both Missouri and Kansas. When time allows, Gina enjoys leisure time with her friends and family, golfing, practicing Bikram Yoga and cheering on the KC Chiefs.

Mary J. Hayslett, CPA, Partner

As one of the partners of Edwards, Hayslett & Co, Mary brings a wealth of experience and skill to the firm. Mary began her career in Iowa after graduating with honors from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She offers 29 years of combined public accounting and industry experience. Mary passed the CPA exam in 1980 and has worked with a variety of businesses, including Home Construction, Computax (a tax preparation software and database service), manufacturing, HUD financed real estate investment partnerships, real estate development and construction, hospitality and golf.

Mary is a noted speaker at tax software training symposiums, has published software instruction manuals and provided programming specs for Corporate Tax software. She’s also taught community and college courses. Mary serves frequently as a volunteer to her community and church. She is active in business networking organizations, as well as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of CPA’s. Mary and her husband, Jeff, have been happily married for 34 years, raising two sons, in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri.

Brent J. Taylor, CPA, Associate

Brent Taylor, CPA served four years as Senior Audit Manager with the Kansas City firm of Ernst & Young, LLP prior to coming to Edwards, Hayslett & Co. LLC.   Taylor brings with him experiences specializing in the financial services of retail, manufacturing and health care industries.

Taylor graduated from the University of Nebraska in May, 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance.     During his years at Nebraska, Brent participated as a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and numerous other campus organizations.  Brent passed the CPA exam in 2009 and holds active CPA licenses in both Missouri and Kansas.    Taylor is also a member in good standing of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of CPA’s. 

As an avid golfer, Brent enjoys calling on our many golf industry clients and sneaking in a round as often as he can.  Brent also spends his leisure time playing basketball and relaxing at Royals baseball games.

Julie N. Brown, CPA, Associate

Julie is a dedicated CPA serving the needs of golf clubs, restaurants and the construction industry in Kansas City. She has five years of golf industry experience, since becoming a CPA in 1993. She has excelled at all the monthly reconciliations unique to Golf Club General Ledgers, as well as preparation of financial statements and generation of year-end tax statements. She has over 12 years of experience in Construction Accounting, working with specialized software programs like Timberline. She has built her career on serving the needs of private companies’ internal financial reporting. She is a graduate of William Jewell College and a member of the Missouri Society of CPA’s.

Stacy M. Batcheller, Associate

Stacy has over 20 years of experience serving the bookkeeping and accounting needs of both the golf and hospitality industries as well as the real estate industry and home building industry. Stacy has worked the last nine years with the Jonas Software applications for golf clubs, Timberline Accounting for real estate and home-builders, and QuickBooks Accounting programs for various industries. Her extensive hands-on experience with the day-to-day processes is a valuable resource to the clients served by Edwards, Hayslett & Co.

Annette M. Silvio, Office Manager

Annette is a valuable asset to the team, bringing expertise in small business that she fine tuned working for five years as the Parkville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.  Annette understands the facets of starting a small business and knows what it takes to not only make it, but to be successful.  Keeping our clients and our firm organized is one of Annette’s many talents.  Her other business experiences include the fields of trucking and transportation.
